Death Penalty Notes

Illinois:  Tony Mauro has this article in NLJ (subscription required, alas).  My letter referred to in the article is here.  Stella Foster in the Chicago Sun-Times reprints her 1995 article, noting she hasn't changed her mind since.  "Some human beings are just plain EVIL."

Maryland:  This state's remnant of the death penalty is held up primarily by bureaucratic red tape on the execution protocol.  The Senate President is pushing to get the bureaucrats off the dime, John Wagner reports for the WaPo.

New Mexico:  Stuart Dyson of KOB reports on the "repeal the repeal" effort.  The new governor is in favor.  However, New Mexico had no Senate election last year, so the same crowd is back, making it an uphill battle, to put it mildly.
