As reported earlier, Senator Leland Yee has made some amendments to his SB 399 to create possibilities of parole for 16- and 17-year-old murderers sentenced to life without parole.  "The amendments were apparently aimed at garnering enough support for the bill, which is strongly opposed by some victims rights groups and prosecutors (including GOP Attorney General candidate Steve Cooley, the District Attorney for Los Angeles County)."
