Canadian Prime Minister Stephan Harper just stated that despite the outcry over the Tori Stafford murder case, the issue of bringing the death penalty back to Canada is a "non-starter."

Since he represents the Canadian equivalent of the Republican Party ("The Conservative Party"). Even the Conservative Party representative from the district where the murder happened (and the former police chief for that town) is opposed to using that case as the impetus to bring back the death penalty in Canada.

Politics aside, it looks like this case will not alter Canada's viewpoint.
