Let's face it, white males are a bunch of pigs.
Or so the Culture Warriors would have it.
The problem is that, unable to make this narrative stick by telling the truth, the thing to do is, ummm.......make stuff up.
The Internet ink was not dry on my last post about the Ferguson "hands up" hoax aimed at white police officer Darren Wilson when I found in my inbox this article from today's Washington Post. It would seem that the breathlessly reported and appalling story of a gang rape at a University of Virginia fraternity was also a hoax. The Post story does not use that word, but it leaves next to no doubt that a hoax is what it was.
What's going on?
What's going on is that white males, the single largest demographic in police forces (and the armed services), have to be portrayed as Satanic in order to lay the groundwork for weakening them, thus to make life easier for criminals.
No, it's not a conspiracy. It's worse than that. It's Grievance Run Amok. I wish the hoaxsters were coordinating with each other. More worrisome is the fact that Grievance Run Amok is now so deeply ingrained in the culture that no coordination is necessary.
Let's take a look.
-- Most prominently there's the "hands up, don't shoot" hoax from Ferguson, seized upon by no less than the President. This was accompanied for weeks by the "shot him in the back" hoax and the "stood over him pumping bullets into him" hoax.
-- Then more recently there was this gang rape hoax, earnestly and credulously reported by the Post and numerous other outlets notwithstanding that its origins were in, not police reports, but -- ready now? -- Rolling Stone. Now there's some Pulitzer Prize reporting!
Apparently it never occurred to the mainstream media to wonder why the alleged rape victim went to Rolling Stone rather than the cops. Even five seconds' reflection will suggest that the reason was that the cops would seriously investigate the allegation, but Rolling Stone wouldn't.
-- You would think that both the University of Virginia and such of the responsible press as remains would have learned something from the Whites-Are-Devils rape hoax at Duke University, but no. As one astute commenter noted in the last thread:
The story if true is the perfect vehicle for those who believe that fraternities are solely a vehicle for white male power and are loaded with members who are sexual predators.
So in the papers it went.
-- Probably the granddaddy of them all was the false accusation, shepherded by current Presidential buddy and Eric Holder confidant Al Sharpton, that a white prosecutor, Steve Pagones, raped and grotesquely abused black teenager Tawana Brawley. That too was subsequently shown to be a pack of lies. We heard then, though -- and are certain to hear now -- what we always hear: The Grievance Crowd doesn't have to tell the truth because, well, because they don't.
Grievance is enough on its own. Actual facts are for suckers. And, as noted, white males are a bunch of pigs.
