Birtherism déjà vu

Years ago, I got an email from a correspondent all excited about the "birther" controversy, whether Barack Obama was actually born in Hawaii or in a foreign country.  I told him to fuhgeddaboudit.  Even if he were born elsewhere, as the son of a U.S. citizen mother he was a "natural born Citizen" within the meaning of Article II of the Constitution.

Here we go again.
This time there is no birth certificate controversy.  Ted Cruz certainly is what the birthers alleged Obama to be:  a person born outside the United States to a U.S. citizen mother and a noncitizen father.

John McCain was also born outside the U.S.  Both of his parents were citizens.  A suit to remove him from the ballot was dismissed.  Jacob Gershman has this post at the WSJ Law Blog noting numerous experts' opinions.  The Obama birther suit was briefly noted on this blog here.

CJLF does not endorse candidates, but I will say again what I said about Obama way back then.  This challenge won't fly.

By way of full disclosure, Ted Cruz has been a friend of CJLF for a long time.  We worked together putting down one of the most brutal, notorious gang-rapist-murderers in the history of Houston.  It took three trips to the Supreme Court, but we finally achieved justice in that case.  See posts here, here, and here.
