Reactions to the Orlando Massacre

| 2 Comments
All of us view the world through our own lenses, and those lenses are often polarized.  Was the terrible shooting in the Orlando nightclub

(a) An ISIS-inspired act of terrorism against the United States;
(b) A homophobic hate crime;
(c) The act of a mentally unbalanced person;
(d) Committed with a weapon that it is difficult to see why any law-abiding civilian has a legitimate need to own; or
(e) All of the above?
I won't offer my own answer here.  Feel free to opine in the comments.

Individual events, as well as general problems, often have multiple facets.  People tend to emphasize the facets that fit best with their pre-existing view of the world and discount the ones that do not.

One of the problems in today's world of myriad sources of news is that way too many people get their news exclusively from sources that make them comfortable and avoid those that challenge their beliefs.

But Trump will claim (a) was overriding and Hillary will focus on (d), (b) and (c), in that order.

And, in the end, nothing will change. We will turn on our TV tomorrow (or next week/month/year) and watch politicians sending their "hearts and prayers" to the tens/hundreds/thousands affected by "this horrific act of _______ (fill in the blank: "Radical Islamic Terrorism," "A Mentally Unbalanced Person," "_______")
