Seven Chicago Deaths Thursday: Seven more people lost their lives to shootings in Chicago Thursday. Sam Charles of the Chicago Sun Times reports that three separate shootings took place over a twelve hour period. Among the seven victims who died was a pregnant woman. As we approach the the end of the third month of 2017, it's worth noting that this is the second time since January that the city of Chicago has had seven murders in a single day. 

Murderer of Teen Faces Capital Punishment:  A Pennsylvania couple may face the death penalty for the the rape, murder, and dismemberment of a teenage girl.  US News reports "Bucks County prosecutors made the announcement Friday, when 44-year-old Jacob Sullivan waived his formal arraignment on homicide, rape, kidnapping and other charges in the death of Grace Packer in July. Sullivan was enacting a murder-rape fantasy with the adopted 14-year-old daughter of his girlfriend Sara Packer.  Police believe that Packer actually watched the rape and murder.  After the girl was dead, her body was cut into pieces and dumped in a remote area. Both Packer and Sullivan could be sentenced to death for the crime.  The trial date has been set for March 2018.

Parolee Suspected of Killing Girlfriend: A San Bernardino parolee who was still wearing his ankle monitor was taken into custody Sunday on suspicion that he killed his girlfriend during a domestic dispute. Anne Millerbernd at the San Bernardino Sun reports  that Julio Cesar Serrano, 42, showed up at a family member's Los Angeles home about 1:40 p.m. and said that he had hurt his 45-year-old girlfriend, Martha Garcia.  According to a news release from the San Bernardino Police Department, Serrano was free on parole for burglary as well as "numerous prior arrests.
