Epstein Jail Guards Indicted

Rebecca Davis O'Brien reports for the WSJ:

Two federal corrections workers who were on duty the night Jeffrey Epstein killed himself in a Manhattan detention cell have been indicted on federal charges in connection with the disgraced financier's death, according to charges unsealed Tuesday.

The two federal Bureau of Prisons employees had been accused of failing to check regularly on prisoners under their watch, including Mr. Epstein, who was found dead early Aug. 10.

Tova Noel and Michael Thomas were each charged with one count of conspiring to defraud the United States and conspiracy to make false records. Mr. Noel was also charged with five counts of making false records, and Mr. Thomas was charged with three counts of making false records.

Once again, we see people getting in more trouble for the cover-up than for the original transgression. Failure to check is bad job performance. Falsifying records is a crime.
