Connecticut Death Penalty Repeal Appears Dead

Following up on the post earlier today, Daniela Altimari reports in the Hartford Courant that a second senator, Andrew Maynard, has also said "he can no longer back the bill."

Supporters of the repeal movement knew the bill would be close in the Senate but had expressed cautious optimism that this would be their year. Late Wednesday night they conceded defeat.
They will surely be back next year, but pro-criminal bills are less likely to pass in election years.
